Pullit™ Magnetic Rack User’s Guide

Using the Pullit™ magnetic rack

The Pullit™ magnetic rack is designed to help you use magnetic beads to purify molecules like DNA, RNA, or proteins.

    1. Placing tubes in the Pullit magnetic rack

        1. You can use the rounded side handles to hold the Pullit rack.
        2. The Pullit rack has holes and a shelf to position the tubes in the correctly. Once in place, the tubes will be held at an angle, in perfect contact with the magnets, which are inside the rack.
    2. Removing liquid from the beads

        1. Place the tubes into the Pullit rack. The bottom of the tubes will sit on the shelf on the rack. Wait approximately 1 minute until the magnetic beads collect on the wall of the tubes closest to the magnetic rack.
        2. To remove the liquid from the beads, carefully slide the pipette tip along the opposite wall from the beads until it reaches the bottom of the tube.

        3. Slowly release the pipette plunger to remove the liquid. If you disturb the beads, don’t worry! Let them sit for 30 seconds and they will collect against the magnet again.
    3. Adding liquid to the beads

        1. To add liquid to the beads, move the tubes to a non-magnetic rack. Add wash buffer or other desired liquid, and pipette up and down to mix the beads and the buffer. Make sure you eject all the beads back into the tube before discarding the pipette tip.
        2. Leave the mixed liquid in the tube and return the tubes to the Pullit rack. After 1 minute, the beads will once again collect along the side of the tube closest to the rack.
        3. You are now ready to remove liquid from the beads again.
